Do you have time to think about your work wardrobe?

Do you have time to think about your work wardrobe?

There's nothing quite like the rush in the morning before work, an extra few minutes in bed seems like a much better idea than getting ready for work don't they?

A study by Broadgate London has revealed more than three quarters of Brits only manage to spend 10 minutes each morning getting ready and perfecting their look for work.

In an era where an ever increasing focus is put on the way we present ourselves and as London Fashion Weekend takes place, we ask what can be done to help busy Brits pre-plan their office style.

The study revealed that up to 70% of people working in the City of London were only able to spend 10 minutes choosing what to wear for work.In particular over 80% of those working within the finance industry came out as most strapped for time. Conversely around 40% of those working in Marketing or Advertising afford themselves around 30 minutes styling and grooming in the mornings.

Samantha Rush, Head of Marketing, Communications and Events, at Broadgate, City of London comments: “Time is tight in the mornings and we are all always in such a rush to be at work on time, which can mean that the style or fashion element of what we wear to work often goes out the window. However, I was surprised to see that those who work in an area like the City of London are so busy they don’t have time to think about their look each morning. Broadgate in particular contains a wealth of incredible retail and beauty outlets. This is why we decided to put together a Broadgate Style and Beauty Salonand help city dwellers use the resources they have on their doorstep, which will enable them to put together a stylish, well groomed work look in seconds.”

The Broadgate Style and Beauty Salon ran from the 11th to 12th of September in conjunction with renowned stylist Gabrielle Teare and retailers from the local area including Percy & Reed, Reiss and TM Lewin. Sessions aimed to help Londoners learn more about styling and grooming.

For those who were not able to make it down Gabrielle Teare offers these three exclusive tips tolooking stylish for work in seconds.

Love you; love your clothes - Only buy the clothes that you love, this goes for work and casual wear. They need to suit your shape and colouring, if you look in the mirror and think "I am not sure", walk away.

The evolving capsule: Think strategically when going shopping, you may love that blue polka dot shirt but does it go with the other clothes in your work wardrobe? The trick is to learn what suits you and everything in your wardrobe will match. Always try to think of work outfits in terms of being able to mix and match a number of looks, this will make things easier to throw on in the morning.

Morning madness – To avoid rushing in the morning get your outfit out the night before, this may only take you a few seconds before you go to bed but will mean you wake up able to slip into something you love leaving more time to focus on hair and make-up.
