Daniele Cavalli

Daniele Cavalli has left his family's eponymous label.

Roberto Cavalli's son has quit his post as menswear creative director for the brand, with his father is set to take over his responsibilities, WWD is reporting.

This major change comes after Cavalli's CEO Gianluca Brozzetti and chief operating officer Carlo Di Biagio recently stepped down from their roles at the Italian fashion house.

Speculation the company will soon be for sale have been dismissed by a spokesperson after The Financial Times reported the brand is in talks with London group Permira to buy a majority stake in the company.

Roberto has often spoken of how proud he is that Daniele has followed in his footsteps and says he sees a younger version of himself in him.

The designer said last year: "Daniele and I have always been very close, and I knew that he would follow me one day. He is extremely talented. I can see how much he tries to invent something special.

"It's fantastic to listen to him because when I speak to him I feel that he's like me when I was younger. He has lived and breathed and grown up in my studio, so his apprenticeship started at a very young age!"
