Elle Macpherson is focused on being healthy now she's 50.The supermodel celebrated her landmark birthday in March and says she has realised over the last few years that her health and fitness are far more important than the way she looks in the mirror.

She admitted on ITV show 'Lorraine': "I think as a woman, when you get to 50 you have to make a bit more effort. Being well, being fit and being healthy from the inside out is really important. Obviously, great lighting and good make-up team helps!

"For me it's really about the way I feel, not so much the way I look anymore. And if I'm feeling good, I'm feeling strong and I'm feeling vibrant then I tend to look better."

The striking star, who earned the nickname 'The Body' thanks to her killer figure, loved her role as head judge mentoring aspiring catwalk models on reality show 'Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model', which has now been axed.

Elle hopes the programme helped change people's perceptions of the fashion industry and prove how much hard work and commitment goes into being a successful model.

She explained: "I'm sure people think, 'How great - you're on telly, you're famous, you get reservations in restaurants!' And I'm thinking, 'I'm up at 3am getting my hair and make-up done, I'm worrying about what I'm wearing.'

"Like all jobs the real success comes from the commitment and the work that you put into it. And one of my mottos in life is 'Do what you love and love what you do'. There's no shortcuts."
