Nicole Farhi has been awarded an honorary CBE by the Queen.
The fashion designer was given the honour for her services to the retail industry after more than 30 years in the fashion industry.
Farhi, 61, said she was "privileged and delighted" to receive such an honour, reports the press association.
She spent her early days working at French Connection before starting her own label which is now hugely popular with celebrities including Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett and Colin Firth.
She said: "I am both privileged and delighted to be awarded this honour by Her Majesty the Queen for my contributions to the fashion industry in Britain.
"I was born in France but I have been lucky enough to work in Britain for more than 30 years in an industry which, since the 1960s, has provided inspiration to designers all over the world."
