The 31-year-old American actress, who has launched a new capsule for Naja lingerie with Catalina Girald called Nude For All, has admitted she created the natural coloured underwear collection to match all skin tones, to encourage every woman to embrace their figure and "own it".

Speaking to PEOPLE about the inspiration behind her latest fashion venture, the brunette beauty - who founded the environmentally friendly fashion capsule in 2014 - said: "I didn't want it to be about singling out one specific race, ethnicity or colour. It is about equality and it need to be about every person.

"In societal norms, I don't have the 'perfect' body, and yet I feel like it is, and I feel like I can rock whatever I damn well please. So, it was important for me to bring that perspective into the company - to bring awareness that you don't have to have any specific body type to wear lingerie or feel sexy as hell in it. All women own it, and all women should own it."

The award winning actress - who received a Golden Globe award for Best Actress for her role as Jane Villaneuva in the comedy series 'Jane the Virgin' - believes there is no real definition of beautiful.

She explained: "There is no one definition of beautiful, so do not live up to the standards of someone else. Ultimately, you are the one who must love your body. No one else."

Meanwhile, the co-founder has revealed she struggles to maintain a healthy lifestyle with her Puerto Rican upbringing.

Speaking previously she said: "It's very difficult to keep this lifestyle because I was raised so differently being Puerto Rican. You have bread for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But I do want to create the best life possible for me because I have been given so many blessings, so there's just no need for me to disrupt that.

"I'm not perfect, I love to indulge as everybody else does, I just know that I have been given these opportunities and I think it's best for me to take care of me, because that's what gets me through every day."
