The 77-year-old television personality encouraged her fans to vote in the upcoming US Midterm election by wearing home-made bedazzled shoes emblazoned with the word 'Vote' to the Alzheimer's Associations Rita Hayworth Gala.

Sharing a picture of the shoes, she wrote: "What better way to send the most important message ! Emblazoned in faux diamonds on @Aerosoles_shoes sandals is the word VOTE Nothing is more important right now ! Get up! Get out ! Vote!

"Election Day is right around the corner I am wearing these shoes with my diamond emblazoned denim shift and jacket from Martha Stewart @qvc tonight to the gala @alzassociation Vote NOVEMBER 6 2018 (sic)"

The businesswoman was flooded with comments from fans who loved the shoes and stressed the importance of taking part in the election.

One user wrote: "she is literally a god, emblazoned with diamontes - everyone get out there and vote! (sic)"

Another said: "These shoes made for walkin... Voting is so important for our future..everyone just DO IT. VOTE. (sic)"

Martha isn't the only celebrity urging their fans to become more politically involved and actor Ryan Reynolds who let fans know that he voted on his 42nd birthday, while posing in a snap with wife Blake Lively.

Sharing a picture of himself and Blake, 31, standing in a room of multicoloured balloons smiling and holding up their voting slips, Ryan wrote: "What a birthday! I just smoked a huge bowl of early voting. #JustVoted @whenweallvote (sic)"

Blake shared a similar photo and added: "Happy Birthday to 2018's Sexiest Voter Alive @vancityreynolds #justvoted #absenteeballot party! (sic)"
