Oscar de la Renta

A private funeral will be held for Oscar de la Renta in New York.

The late fashion designer will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola at Park Avenue and 84th Street in New York on November 3, according to WWD.

The service will take place in the same chapel where the family of former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis - whom Oscar designed many garments for - held her funeral in 1994.

His funeral will reportedly be attended by some of the most influential names in fashion, including the editor-in-chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour and the designer Diane von Furstenberg.

The 82-year-old style icon passed away on Monday, October 20 after being diagnosed with cancer in 2006.

After the news of his death became public many celebrities took to social media to share their grief.

On Instagram Taylor Swift wrote: ""My all-time favorite designer has passed away. Oscar, it was an honor to wear your creations and to know you. In loving memory (sic)"

Supermodel Naomi Campbell also praised the late designer, calling him the 'gentleman of fashion' on Twitter.

She wrote: "The Gentleman of Fashion you will always be !!! R I P@oscarprgirl @OscarPRGirl #Oscar de la Renta (sic)"
