The 34-year-old sportswoman - who has been crowned Wimbledon champion seven times - has admitted if she was not a successful tennis player she would want to pursue a career in the fashion industry and design her own fashion range.

Speaking about her plan B career path to Vogue, Serena - who has been running her own label Aneres, which is her first name spelled backwards, since 2004 - said: "I'd be a fashion designer."

However the brunette beauty - who launched her second clothing line on the Home Shopping Network (HSN) last year - has admitted trying to balance working on her collection whilst competing in tennis tournaments simultaneously has proved problematic in the past, and she would prefer to focus on one passion at a time.

She explained: "I've played Wimbledon, I played the Open, I'm playing tournaments in between [designing]. When you work on the shows it's not like it takes two weeks. It's a four, five, sixth month commitment. It was a lot of preparation. All of the looks - pairing it, first, last, finale, middle... music. It was a lot!"

Meanwhile, the Michigan-born professional has revealed she is obsessed with footwear and would love to raid Mariah Carey's show wardrobe.

Speaking about the 'Heartbreaker' hitmaker's style, she said: "She has amazing shoes."

And Serena - who has previously held an exclusive capsule for the sportswear giants Puma and Nike - has revealed the best style advice she has received is to wear your outfit with confidence.

Serena - who became a nail technician in 2010 in preparation for her beauty capsule with HairTech - advised: "Be you, wear your style and be confident."
