The iconic 60s children's toys - which are known for their colourful static hair - have been used to create a range of makeup products such as foundation, lip gloss and eye liner.

It is a departure from MAC's usual celebrity collaborations with the likes of Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and Rihanna.

Speaking to Vogue magazine about the new range, MAC's creative director James Gager said: "The Good Luck Trolls have evoked love and joy since the 60s. We are so happy we can put the spotlight on them again.

"MAC Cosmetics celebrates pop culture and fantasy - and brings these enchanting characters to life - through this eclectic, bright-hued collection."

The forthcoming make-up range will feature bright colours to match the wispy locks of the vintage model, which will see products titled 'Can't Be Tamed' for a yellow lipstick and Twerkquoise, and is set to be packaged in sparkly holographic wrapping.

The company took to social media announced the news on their Instagram account, which read: "Being a troll has never been so glamorous! MAC Good Luck Trolls - a crazy-hued collection as silly as the characters themselves. Available in July in select markets!#MACGoodLuckTrolls DreamWorks Trolls 2016 DWA LLC. (sic.)"

The Troll Dolls MAC makeup line is inspired by the 'Good Luck Trolls' film which has been made by DreamWorks Animation and that will be released in November 2016.

It features Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, James Corden and Gwen Stefani providing voices for the trolls.

The beauty line will be available to buy online from July 28.
