Valentino hit the big screen for the first time last night as Valentino: The Last Emperor premiered in Venice.
The legendary designer stars in the new docu-film which followed his day to day life over two years.
To the luck of the film makers- headed up by fashion writer turned director Matt Tyrnauer of Vanity Fair- those two years turned out to be the final years before Valentino retired from the fashion spotlight making for a moving tribute to the designer.
Valentino himself found the whole process a little annoying: "When I work and I create I am not very approachable, so having wires around me and knowing that everything was being recorded really did irritate me a little bit," he said at a press conference yesterday.
The film also features cameos from Valentino's celebrity fans including Elizabeth Hurley, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mick Jagger.
