Victoria Beckham with her family

Victoria Beckham says her family accidentally provide her with ideas about themes for her fashion collections.

The singer-turned-designer credits her children - Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 12, Cruz, nine and two year old Harper - and her husband David Beckham with providing key ideas for her clothing collections.

She told VOGUE Paris magazine: "Everything inspires me, especially my family. One day for instance, my son Romeo arrived in the kitchen carrying a football. That gave me an idea for a theme for my collection."

The 39-year-old star actively tried to separate herself from her celebrity status when she first branched out into fashion design, but now her successful brand is an established name, she feels the time is right for her famous family to take pride of place in the front row at her shows.

Victoria explained: "David has only come to my shows for the last two seasons. Before, I didn't want him to come. His presence would have distracted the journalists too much. But now is the moment and it's lucky he's got more free time [since his retirement from sport].

"He's happy to attend, we always support each other. As for Harper, she did well with the photographers!"

The fashionista is constantly encouraging herself to push her boundaries and experiment with different styles and techniques in her collections.

Victoria explained: "As a general rule, I create clothes that I'd want to wear. What's interesting is that I'm slowly losing my points of reference. My signature dress is tailored, form fitting with a zip in the back. Both sexy and 'appropriate'.

"I started like that but I'm constantly challenging myself and my taboos are becoming sources of inspiration. I'm working more and more with styles I used to hate, lots of volume for example."
