Denim

Double denim is the one rule in fashion we all seem to stick to. Maybe it’s down to the fact we just can’t bring ourselves to pair jeans and then a denim shirt without looking at ourselves in the mirror like we have a screw lose.

Things however are about to change with double denim being a key look to be rocking this Spring/Summer.

D&G have jumped on board and fashion designers are referring to it as the ‘Americana’ trend. Think suede shoes, fringing, brown studded belts, wedges, brass buckles and the dreaded double denim.

It seems that this season there will be no avoiding it. For those of you brave enough to try it out you have to make sure you get it spot on.

We are going to show you how to pull off this look off, and steer you away from looking like you have just stepped out of a western film.

If you want to throw yourself head first in this trend why not opt for the casual look? Go for denim jeans paired with a denim shirt. Take note that they don’t have to be the same colour of denim to look good. A bleached denim shirt looks good with a darker wash jean.

To break up the denim make sure you add a cami vest underneath to give more depth to the outfit. With Patch denim bang on trend this season, why not invest in a patch shirt or jeans bringing you wardrobe up-to-date.

If you like the double denim look but are not too to sure which route to take why not team your jeans with a denim blazer? Not only will this take your outfit to a whole new smart level, but also it won’t look to in your face and will soften the look.

Another look to consider investing in is pair of dungarees. They will be huge this season and available all over the High Street. Wear with a sheer blouse, adding a belt and teaming with tan heels to keep the outfit smart yet casual.

For another casual look team the dungarees with a statement motif tee. If you want to go to the extreme, team with a lumberjack shirt.

The simplest way to rock the double denim is by wearing a denim skirt on top of jeans. This is the most effective and cheapest way to wear double denim, breakdown the look by adding a belt and teaming with a fringe bag.

Double denim isn’t for everyone, if you are still unsure whether you can pull off this trend then stay well away. Double denim is all about having the confidence to pull it off and if you think it looks cute who cares what anyone else thinks.
