If you thought Halloween was just for kids, then clearly you have been walking around with your eyes shut for the past few months.

Halloween has been a major influence in the fashion world this season, with it's huge gothic and dark romance trends now filtering through to the high-street, just in time for the holiday.

Long gone are the days when a cheap wig and witches hat would suffice for a Halloween party, as every year costumes get more and more lavish and unique. It's becoming something of a fashion phenomenon really, as everybody tries to outdo each other with their 'look', and yet they don't end up looking remotely fashionable at all.

But this year it's a bit different, because this year being gothic is considered extremely fashionable, and if up until now you've been apprehensive about this trend, then tonight is the perfect time to try it out.

It also means buying some key pieces for Halloween will also last the distance until Spring. Hurrah, who knew that Halloween could be so credit-crunchtastic?!

Your inspiration for Halloween should channel vibes of Morticia Adams and Dita Von Teese, with a bit of Alice Dellal thrown into the mix. You want to be a grungy Goth who just happens to be a terrifying flesh-eating ghoul, for one night only of course, and then you are back to being an ordinary person making a style statement.

Invest in some lace and cobweb pieces, that with some scary make-up and messed-up hair will leave you looking suitably ghoulish for Halloween, but worn with some elegant courts and red lips will leave you looking stunning.

Sequined and tailored pieces also look amazing for this time of year, as you can build your outfit around them, with a simple mask or some fancy headwear.

We also recommend splashing out on some spooky jewellery, such as bug brooches or spider necklaces because again, you can reuse these for the rest of the season, and it will add some glitz to a dull winter coat.
