Though they may have been overshadowed by their ankle cousins over the past couple of years, 2011 has marked their return in impressive fashion.

Here we have five of the top knee high boots available to buy at the moment with some inspiring suggesting for how to wear them, even some new looks to keep the stylish staple fresh for your fall wardrobe.

An injection of bold colours have been shot into the colder months with berry, teal, orange and purple making most popular list. Although some of the classic colours are the best, there is no reason why you cannot make your statement piece your knee highs.

Purple, berry and yellow boots have been spotted on the highstreet of late, as well as the traditional tan, black and brown shades that remain the old faithful.
