Marc Jacobs does flapper style in his SS09 collection

Back in November we were raving about Angelina Jolie's 1920s style in the movie Changeling and now it seems the rest of the fashion pack has taken notice of one of the most fashionable eras we've had.

Designers including Alberta Ferretti, Marc Jacobs and Moschino all took 1920s inspired dresses to the catwalks and thanks to celebrities including Milla Jovovich, Hayden Panettiere and, our One to Watch, Leigh Lezark all working the look it seems like the flapper dress is going to be a hit this season.

The straight shape of flapper dresses can make smaller girls look boyish. Thankfully though this dress was made for detail and fringing an colour can create shades.

The drop waist can be problematic for those of us whose tummies aren't in great shape too, but again lots of detailing down the length, like fringing or beading, will hide this.

Opt for summery nude shade to work the vintage look or a bright pop of colour gives the look a modern twist.

Combine two trends with all over fringing and alternate between dainty 20s style heels or get the western look with slouchy boots. It's an investment!
