Chanel showed that even legendary designers are affected by the credit crunch as they sent out a simple couture collection in Paris.
Compared to the extravagance of Chrsitian Lacroix and Givenchy, Karl Lagerfeld went for a much more subtle classic feel with plenty of delicate silk and lace.
The asymetric dresses, tulle skirts and fitted jackets actually looked wearable- by couture standards- as they were paraded along a catwalk overlooked by giant Chanel perfume bottles. However lots of beautiful beading and applique detail definitely added that special Chanel touch.
