Party Looks This Season

Still looking for that perfect party dress? Panicking about what to wear over the Christmas period? Well we've found the perfect outfit for you, no matter what body shape you are.

FemaleFirst is on a mission to get everybody looking fantastic this Christmas, working the key winter trends but adapting them to your shape. Today we'll be dressing all the petite ladies out there...

Firstly, it's important to dress for yourself and not for anyone else. We've all wanted to look like our 6ft model-esque friend, but chances are you'll never be able to replicate that look, and why would you want to? Go for styles and shapes which flatter your figure, not draw attention to any parts that you don't want to show off.

It's a common misconception that petites can only pull off one style, when in actual fact the little lady can make any style and shape work for her, given the right advice on how to work it. Look at Kylie, she's tiny but always manages to pull off the most amazing outfits and even those petites who are not as well known- Rachel Stevens, Cheryl Cole and Lucy Lui for example, all now how to dress with style.

If you don't fancy splashing out on a new dress this party season, then why not look at some sexy separates that can be worn again and in different ways? Seeing as the oncoming recession has got us saving our pennies, this is the perfect way to inject some glamour into your wardrobe.

Heels are a party essential as they elongate your legs and give you better posture too, well at least the appearance of better posture. They make you stand up a lot straighter and as a result you appear taller. Short skirts also look great on smaller ladies, as you can flash your pins without feeling too self conscious, as long as you team with a top that's not too low cut, you'll be a style example to follow.

Here's our favourite outfit choices for the petite lady...

Vintage Apparel

Vintage is the buzz word at the minute, so why not capitalise on that with some vintage pieces that can be found on the high-street. We've teamed a funky bow blouse with a studded skirt and teamed with killer heels. To provide a splash of colour, we've added a funky purple suede ruffle bag, which looks as though it's true vintage.

Circus Chic

The circus has officially come to town this season, and the looks are amazing. We've chosen a black top with sequined spots all over it and teamed them with some funky wet-look leggings. Heels are a must for this outfit, otherwise you may run the risk of looking dumpy. We've chosen some purple platforms and a black studded clutch to complete the look.
