A recent online poll of over 30,000 people has uncovered the main reasons owners are reluctant to sell their cars privately.
When asked what the biggest drawback is to a private sale, 34% voted ‘spending time and money on advertising’ as their number one reason.
Besides indicating a keen awareness of the hassle selling privately can involve, the results of the poll sound a wake-up call for many classified advertisers. This finding was supported by second place answer ‘waiting ages and getting no response to advertising’ that polled 22% of the votes.
In third place with 20% of the vote came ’the worry of fraud or non-payment’ followed by ‘strangers coming to your home’ accounting for 12% of responders.
