TyreSafe is the campaigning arm of the Tyre Industry Council, a not for profit, non commercial organisation set up to promote tyre safety and raise the awareness of the dangers of driving on defective or badly worn tyres which are a contributory factor in many accidents particularly in the wet.

12% of cars and vans on the roads in the UK have at least one tyre with less than 1.6mm of tread. TyreSafe campaigns for good tyre husbandry - look after your tyres and your tyres will look after you.

So concerned are they for the general UK motorist, they have set up a new website with the aim of providing a valuable information tool to promote awareness, and the importance of tyre safety.

Now, tyres are not the most exhilarating of subjects but the website is hoping to change peoples ideas about tyres by making it interactive as well as extremely informative.

There is also a Resources and Media area where visitors are able to gain access to copyright-free tyre safety related images, and download the latest articles on other tyre-related issues highlighted by automotive publications.

Anyone who has experienced a tyre bow out will understand what a harrowing and frightening experience it is, never to be repeated. So don’t be caught out by faulty tyres. Visit their site at www.tyresafe. It could save your life
