Andrew Garfield

Andrew Garfield may already be on the rise after his turn in The Social Network last year but his career looks set to explode as he takes on the role of Spiderman.

The actor, who has worked in theatre, TV and film has long been an actor that may tipped for great things and it looks like all that is about to come true.

He is back on the big screen this week with his new movie Never Let Me Go - which is based on the novel by Kazuo Ishiguro and sees him star alongside Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan.

Garfield trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama before kicking off his acting career in the theatre.

And the actor made an impact immediately as he picked up the MEN Theatre Award for his performance in the stage version of Kes before winning the Outstanding Newcomer Award at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for his performance as Romeo.

After this success on stage Garfield moved into TV with series Sugar Rush before quickly moving into movies.

2007 saw him appear in Lion For Lambs, which was directed and also starred Robert Redford, following this up with Boy A.

Boy A was a huge success for the actor as he went on to pick up a British Academy Television Award for Best Actor.

Over the coming years the actor has mixed and matched his movie and TV work moving from the likes of The Other Boleyn Girl to the critically acclaimed Channel 4 series Red Riding.

2009 saw him star alongside Heath Ledger and Christopher Plummer in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

But it was to be 2010 that really put him on the map as he starred in David Fincher's The Social Network.

He took on the role of Eduardo Saverin in the movie that chartered the rise of Facebook - and it is a role that has seen receive praise left, right and centre.

He has picked up Supporting Actor nominations at the Golden Globes and the Baftas as well as taking home the Best Actor gong at the Evening Standard British Film Awards.

But the hype surrounding this British actor is set to hit fever pitch next year as he takes over the role of Peter Parker in the reboot of the Spider Man franchise.

Directed by Marc Webb the movie also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans and Martin Sheen and will hit cinemas next year.

Never Let Me Go is released 11th February.
