Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe was thrust into the limelight ten years ago when he landed the role of Harry Potter as the Philosopher's Stone was adapted for the big screen.

A decade on and he is one of the most famous youngsters on the big screen as he has seen his star rise - all thanks to this very popular franchise.

He reprises the role of Harry for the final time this week with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows  Part 2, which brings the franchise to a close.

Since landing the role of the boy wizard has mixed and matched his roles moving between TV with My Boy Jack and Extras as well as movie roles in December Boys.

And while it will be sad to see him leave this iconic character behind he now has the chance to widen his acting scope.

And he already has hit first post Potter movie under his belt as he is set to star in the big screen adaptation of the Susan Hill novel Woman In Black.

The movie is directed by James Watkins, this is only his second feature film after Eden Lake; he did pen the script for My Little Eye and The Descent: Part 2.

Radcliffe takes on the role of lawyer Arthur Kipps in the movie alongside Ciran Hinds and Janey McTeer in the James Watkins directed project.

The story follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client's papers.

As he works alone in the client's isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black.

Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent.

He has also been linked to  The Journey Is The Destination, which is a biopic about British photographer Daniel Eldon.

But since the end of Potter the young actor has returned to the theatre for a successful run with How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

The show went on to be nominated for 9 Tony Awards.

While Radcliffe will forever be known as Harry Potter his roles in the theatre have demonstrated that he will have a long and varied career - The Woman In Black is set to show us a whole new side to his acting.
