Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman

Well all that is about to change this week as he leads the cast in Shawn Levy's latest movie project Real Steel - which has proved to be a real heavyweight at the U.S. box office over the weekend.

It was X-Men Origins: Wolverine when Jackman last graced the big screen, although he did have a hilarious cameo in X-Men: First Class earlier this summer.

But for any fans of the actor out there you will be happy to know that he has a whole host of projects in the pipeline.

This week Real Steel sees him team up with Evangeline Lily and Dakota Goyo as the world of boxing changes forever.

Set in the near future, where robot boxing is a top sport, a struggling promoter feels he's found a champion in a discarded robot.

During his hopeful rise to the top, he discovers he has an 11-year-old son who wants to know his father.

And Real Steel is just one of three projects on the verge of release for Jackman as he is also set to appear in Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and Butter; the latter seeing him star alongside Jennifer Garner and Olivia Wilde.

He has also completed work on Movie 43- a movie that is set to be a star studied affair. Movie 43 is a feature film that will be made up of short comedy segments.

Emma Stone, Anna Faris, Naomi Watts, Gerard Butler, Kate Winslet, Elizabeth Banks and Josh Duhamel are just some of the other faces that we will be seeing in the film.

But there are two super exciting projects that the actor is set to be involved with over the next twelve months... Les Miserables and The Wolverine.

Les Miserables will see Jackman with The King's Speech filmmaker Tom Hooper, in what is his first movie since winning the Oscar, as he takes on the role of Jean Valjean.

Russell Crowe has also been cast and he is set to play Inspector Javert in a movie that I am already looking forward to being a big fan of the stage show.

And he is also set to reprise the role of Logan in The Wolverine, the second stand alone movie for the character.

James Mangold has taken over directing duties after Darren Aronofsky left the project and filming is expected to get underway next year.

Real Steel is released 14th October.
