Here we are at the end of our search for some of cinema's greatest icons making the list have been some of cinema's greatest characters including Norman Bates, Indiana Jones and Ellen Ripley.

But it's a maverick cop, a super spy and a Star Wars hero and villain that have made the top five.

5. Harry Callaghan
Played by Clint Eastwood

When Dirty Harry was released Callahan became the first of a new kind of movie cop: a borderline vigilante who doesn't hesitate when crossing professional and ethical boundaries in pursuit of his own vision of justice, an idea that would be copied over and over in the years to come.

Despite his somewhat unorthodox and often violent methods of apprehending criminals is devoted to protecting and avenging the victims of violent crime.

Callahan has little use for many of the official rules of police conduct, dismissing them as "red tape" and loathes the court system that lets the criminals get away with their crimes he is only interested in doing his job.. protecting the general public against violent offenders and seeking justice for those who have suffered at their hands.

Harry Callaghan remains one of the most iconic symbols of the cop movie genre as well as being one of Eastwood's most memorable roles.

4. Han Solo
Played by Harrison Ford

Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford who is making his second appearance on this countdown, was a smuggler turned hero in the Star Wars trilogy.

Introduced in A New Hope he, and his sidekick Chewbacca, are notorious smugglers who are in debt to Jabba the Hutt.
Desperate for money Solo agrees to take Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, C3PO and R2D2 to the Alderaan in the Millenium Falcon.

He becomes part of the rebel Alliance and helps free Princess Leia for Imperial custody. But he refuses to take part in the assault on the Death Star and leaves with his money. But after a change of heart he returns to help Luke and the rebels destroy the Death Star.

By The Enpire Strikes Back Han Solo hasn't escaped the Rebel Alliance and finds himself back with Luke after he saves him and Leia from being frozen.

Betrayed by a friend he is tortured and frozen just moments after confessing his feelings for Leia. He's rescued by Luke in Return of the Jedi by Luke and upon returning to the rebels is made a general.

He leads the raid on an Imperial shield generator on the forest moon of Endor that, when destroyed, will allow rebel ships to enter and destry the rebuilt Death Star.

Over the course of the three movies Han Solo the loner learns that being part of a group is necessary when fighting the necessary battles of good over evil.

The Star Wars trilogy and the role of Han Solo kick started Harrison Ford's career and has become one of cinema's most classic characters.

3. Tyler Durden
Played by Brad Pitt

The character of Tyler Durden appeared in 1999 cult movie Fight Club and is one of cinema's greatest anti-heroes of recent years

And while Durden isn't a ruthless killer or a defender of the public he is a modern anti-hero in the sense that he is anti-capitalism, anti-credit card, he’s against being made into a zombie and doesn't follow the crowd.

Tyler Durden is a strong, free thinking and independent individual who fights against wrongs that many feel powerless to stop or change, however he has no moral reason behind why he fights he does it because he can and wants to.

Tyler Durden remains Pitt's most famous role as he took lessons in boxing, taekwondo and grappling in preparation for the role as well as having pieces of his front teeth removed.
