Liam Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth's star has been steadily rising over the last couple of years with the likes of The Last Song and Knowing already under his belt.

But 2012 could very well be the year that sees him make a real name for himself as he has a couple of very exciting projects on the horizon.

Having kicked off his career in Neighbours he has made a very successful transition onto the big screen.

And that career rise begins this week as he is set to star in one of the most anticipated movies of 2012.. The Hunger Games.

The actor is set to take on the role of Gale Hawthorne, a love interest for main character Katniss.

The Hunger Games is an adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novels and is predicted to break box office records when it is released tomorrow.

Should The Hunger Games be a box office success the further two movie should be made and this franchise can do for Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson what twilight did for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

Hemsworth takes on a very different role later this summer as he is also set to play Billy 'The Kid' Timmons in The Expendables 2.

Billy The Kid is a new member of the Expendables and the movie sees him team up with Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This is the first big action role that Hemsworth has had and it seems him really tackle this genre for the first time.

And as if that is not enough he has also completed work on AWOL, directed by Danny Mooney.

AWOL is a Vietnam war movie and follows a young soldier who goes AWOL in a bid to win back his girl.

Liam Hemsworth could make quite a name for himself as a versatile actor this year and he has a whole host of projects in the pipeline.

He is also set to star in Timeless and Empire State as well as a re-telling of Arabian Nights, in which he is set to play Ali Baba

The Hunger Games is released 23rd March
