Moneyball

Moneyball

2011 has already been a successful year for Brad Pitt with the critical acclaim received for The Tree of Life, which saw him work with director Terrence Malick.

He will be back on the big screen later this year with his new movie Moneyball, in what is being tipped as one of the sport movies of 2011.

The movie sees Bennett Miller in the director’s chair for his first movie since Capote back in 2005 - the movie that saw Philip Seymour Hoffman pick up a Best Actor Oscar.

Moneyball boasts an all star cast as Jonah Hill, Robin Wright Penn and Philip Seymour Hoffman join Brad Pitt on the cast list.

Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A’s and the guy who assembles the team, who has an epiphany: all of baseball’s conventional wisdom is wrong.

Forced to reinvent his team on a tight budget, Beane will have to outsmart the richer clubs.

The onetime jock teams with Ivy League grad Peter Brand in an unlikely partnership, recruiting bargain players that the scouts call flawed, but all of whom have an ability to get on base, score runs, and win games.

It’s more than baseball, it’s a revolution - one that challenges old school traditions and puts Beane in the crosshairs of those who say he’s tearing out the heart and soul of the game

Moneyball is released 25th November. Take a look at the new trailer for the movie:
