Jennifer Aniston

Ok so we all know that Jennifer Aniston shot to fame playing Rachel in Friends but she has carved out a great movie career for herself since the TV show ended.

She is now one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood and has enjoyed some major box office success in that time.

The actress is back in the big screen this week with her latest movie The Switch, which sees her team up with Jason Bateman, Patrick Wilson, Jeff Goldblum and Juliette Lewis.

So to celebrate the release of her latest movie we look a look at some of the essential Jennifer Aniston films that you must have in your collection.

- Bruce Almighty

Jennifer Aniston teamed up with Jim Carrey in 2003 for Bruce Almighty which was directed by Tom Shadyac.

Carrey stars as Bruce Nolan, a television reporter in Buffalo, New York who lives a normal life with his sweet girlfriend Grace (Jennifer Aniston).

But Bruce isn't satisfied, and after a particularly bad day where everything goes wrong, he blames God. After spewing a tirade of curses God's way, God (Morgan Freeman in a gentlemanly white suit) responds and challenges Bruce to take over and see if he can run things better.

Of course, there are some conditions; Bruce can only have the "almighty" powers for 24 hours and only in the Buffalo area. This doesn't stop Bruce, and he responds to his newfound powers with selfish, childlike zeal.

Despite it's mixed review the movie was a huge box office success grossing over $484 million worldwide.

It opened in America at #1 and was the highest-rated Memorial Day weekend opening of any film in motion picture history until the release of X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006.

- The Good Girl

But it was 2002 that saw a change of role for Aniston as she tried to move away from the character of Rachel Green as she took on The Good Girl.

She starred as Justine, a sullen 30-year-old woman stuck in a dead-end job at the Retail Rodeo department store. In addition to her mind-numbing occupation, Justine also has to contend with her dim-witted husband, Phil (John C. Reilly), and his partner, Bubba (Tim Blake Nelson), who work as house painters when they aren't smoking pot and staring blankly at the television.

Justine sees an opportunity for change, however, when she meets Holden (Jake Gyllenhaal), a fellow Retail Rodeo employee who is even more depressed than herself. The young Holden (who patterns himself after Holden Caulfield of J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye) and Justine soon begin a passionate secret affair, unaware that it may not be so secret after all.

While the movie didn't get as wide a release as some of her more mainstream comedies that she has starred in of late The Good Girl provided Aniston with her most critically successful movie as the critics loved her performance.

- Marley & Me

It has been a year at the box office for the actress and it kicked off with Marley & Me back at the beginning of the year.

Based on the novel by John Grogan Aniston teamed up with Owen Wilson for this movie, oh as well as a totally adorable Golden Labrador.

An ambitious young reporter, John Grogan, and his wife, Jenny, also a reporter, move to a Florida, buy a house and adopt a Labrador puppy they name Marley.

Marley quickly becomes a rollicking force of nature in their lives as well as teaching them the importance of families.

The movie did well with the critics, but the public didn't appear to take any notice of the bad reviews as the movie opened at number one in America.

It grossed $14.75 million on its first day of release, setting the record for the best Christmas Day box office take ever. It has so far grossed over $242 worldwide.

- The Break-Up

Gary (Vince Vaughn) and Brooke (Aniston) are a mismatched couple who meet, develop a seemingly contented relationship, and buy a beautiful condo together within the movie's first few minutes.

Soon an all-too-believable fight triggers the title event, and they spend the rest of the movie alternately arguing and playing mind games as they battle over ownership of their beloved condo--and try to decide whether or not they really want this to be the end.

The 2006 comedy did poorly with the critics upon it's release but it did well at the box office as  it grossed over $204 million worldwide, easily making back it's $52 million budget.

Other good performances from Aniston include The Object of My Affection, Rockstar, Picture Perfect and He's Just Not That Into You.

In the pipeline for the actress include Just Go With It, which sees her star alongside Adam Sandler and Nicole Kidman, and she is currently filming Horrible Bosses with Kevin Spacey and Colin Farrell.

The Switch is released 1st September.
