The Sorcerer's Apprentice

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

The Sorcerer's Apprentice sees Nicolas Cage return to the big screen this week, in what has already been a busy 2010 for the Oscar winning actor.

He takes on the role of sorcerer Baltazar Blake who finds the apprentice that he is looking for, in the form of Jay Baruchel, in modern day New York.

The movie reunites Cage with National Treasure director Jon Turteltaub as well as producer Jerry Bruckheimer as they bring a live action version of the Mickey Mouse scene from Fantasia to the big screen.

Balthazar Blake is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina).

Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé.

The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness.

It'll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

So if you can't reach the cinema to catch Cage and co in action until the weekend then here are a couple of clips for you to feast your eyes on.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice is out now.
