Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist

The last couple of years has seen Michael Cera rise from obscurity to one of Hollywood's hottest comedy talents.

However Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, which was released at the beginning of the year, was not the success it should have been and it's this week's hidden gem.

The comedy follows two people thrust together for one hilarious, sleepless night of adventure in a world of mix tapes, late-night living, and, live, loud music.

Nick (Cera) frequents New York's indie rock scene nursing a broken heart and a vague ability to play the bass. Norah (Kat Dennings) is questioning pretty much all of her assumptions about the world.

Though they have nothing in common except for their taste in music, their chance encounter leads to an all-night quest to find a legendary band's secret show and ends up becoming the first date in a romance that could change both their lives.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is one of the most charming movies of the year so far and while the storyline is by no means complex it's a warm and uplifting movie.

It's the teamwork between the movie's two leads Michael Cera and Kat Dennings that really makes this movie flow and the chemistry between then is undeniable.

And while their budding relationship is a little bit predictable it never feels false or contrived as they banter well together.

This movie is everything that a teen movie should be it's smart it's funny as well as being identifiable and it's set to a great soundtrack.

Director has used hand held camera work as well as long shots to develop an intimacy throughout the movie and, at times, you feel like you are looking in on this relationship.

But it's also about self-discovery as two teenagers, both with very different attitudes on love and relationships, figure themselves out, what they want and are willing to give into love and let someone else in.

It is a typical romantic comedy but there's just something about this movie, and it's young cast, that's a breath of fresh air making it one of the best teen movies in many a year.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is a warm, romantic and funny dash around New York City and it's a film that you won't be able to help falling in love with.
