So the blockbuster summer is well and truly over so cinema goers can enjoy an array of movies from period to comedy and from sci-fi to musical.

But October belongs to one film and one film only yes after a two year wait James Bond is back in Quantum of Solace.

Only an eight week wait now before Daniel Craig returns and the troubled 007 which picks up where Casino Royale left off.

Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.

Forensic intelligence links an MI6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta.

Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation.

Quantum of Solace is released 31st October

Brideshead Revisited

Brideshead Revisited is an evocative and poignant story of forbidden love and the loss of innocence, set in pre-war England when privileged aristocracy fell into decline.

The story begins in1925 at Oxford, when Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode) is befriended by the louche and flamboyant Sebastian Flyte (Ben Whishaw), son of Lord Marchmain, and is quickly seduced by an exciting new world of money, glamour and outrageous behaviour.

When he is invited to Brideshead the Flyte family’s magnificent ancestral home, Charles becomes infatuated with Julia (Hayley Atwell), Sebastian’s beautiful sister.

But as Charles’s emotional relationship with the Marchmain family deepens, he finds himself continually at odds with their deepest family bond, that of their overpowering Catholic faith.

Brideshead revisited is released 3rd October

Body of Lies

Ridley Scott brings together two big screen powerhouses, in the form of Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, for his new CIA thriller Body of Lies.

Based on Washington Post columnist David Ignatius' 2007 novel about a CIA operative, Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), who uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan.

When Ferris devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of Jordanian intelligence.

Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation - and his life - on the line.

Body of Lies is released 10th October

Burn After Reading

Burn After Reading is the first film from the Coen Brothers since their Best Film and Best Director Oscars from No Country For Old Men earlier in the year and reunites Brad Pitt and George Clooney on the big screen.

Ozzie Cox (John Malkovich), a CIA vet, writes a damning memoir after being fired for being an alcoholic.

Cox's soon-to-be ex-wife Katie (Tilda Swinton) steals the disc containing his memoirs and accidentally leaves it at the gym where it is found by a trainer, Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt) and the gym's owner, Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand).

The believe that they can make money from the disc by blackmailing Cox.

Harry Pfarrer (George Clooney) is an oversexed, fanatically fit, lactose-intolerant federal marshal who is sleeping with Cox's wife.

He meets Linda at an online dating service and becomes involved in the blackmail plot.

Burn After Reading is released 17th October

High School Musical 3

Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and co all reunite for the third time in High School Musical 3 which, for the first time, finds itself on the silver screen.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year" finds high school seniors Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) facing the prospect of separation as they head off to different colleges.

Joined by the rest of the Wildcats, they stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes and fears about the future.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year is released 24th October.

Other releases include comedy How to Lose Friends and Alienate People starring Simon Pegg and Ghost Town with Ricky Gervais. And sci-fi action epic The Mutant Chronicels also hits the big screen.
