Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch in cinemas Friday, 1st April, is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality.

Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary.

She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive.

Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls - the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish) to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm).

Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal.

Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive.  But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey, if they succeed, will set them free.

To celebrate the upcoming release of Sucker Punch we’re taking a look at five of the most iconic female costumes in past and present film history. Which one would you want to be?

Batman Returns (1992)
Michelle Pfeiffer - Cat Woman

Who knew being bad looked so good? What more appropriate way to start than with the one and only deceptive catwoman, in the infamous and venomously sexy bodytight suit that had us all purring.

Sorry Halle Berry, but you ain’t got nothing on the one and only original catwoman suit. You can’t mess with perfection!

The Fifth Element (1997)
Milla Jovovich - LeeLoo

A 'supreme being' indeed. For those who prefer a little science fiction with their sexy, the iconic orange-headed heroine kicks ass in either a skimpy white bandage getup or orange suspenders and looks good doing it.

A favorite at Comic Con, the cult movie and character of LeeLoo still proves to have an impressive following.

Sin City (2005)
Jessica Alba - Nancy Callahan

Perhaps one of the most scandalously sexy super heroine costumes in recent history, Nancy Callahan isn’t afraid to flaunt it.

In the original Frank Miller novel, Nancy is actually topless and bottomless, so nudity was an option, but director Robert Rodriquez decided to take a different approach - much to many a men’s dismay. Still the chaps and lasso on this girl is enough to tame any cowboy.

Watchmen (2009)
Carla Gugino - Silk Spectre I

Don’t let looks deceive you. Inspired by other comic book heroines such as Black Canary and Phantom Lady, this infamously short sexy black and yellow costume will stop any villain in their tracks with its pinup-esque appeal.

Knee high boots, shoulder high leather black gloves and thigh high stockings complete the look, making it yet another go to choice for sexy adult Halloween costumes.

Kick Ass (2010)
Chloe Moretz - Hit Girl

As Kick-Ass showed us, the superhero game isn’t simply limited to testosterone-charged boys anymore. The costume that inspired many a Halloween costumes, Hit Girl quickly became an instant classic.

While in her civilian attire, Mindy Macready is just your typical little girl, her Hit-Girl persona takes on a more Goth approach, and while you’re not necessarily going to be able to keep your gender a secret, a great way to keep you identity a secret is an ornate kick ass wig.

And of course be sure to check out Emily Browning as Baby-Doll in a killer Sailor Moon outfit when Sucker Punch is released in cinemas April 1st.
