The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises

2011 may be drawing to a close but summer 2012 looks set to be super exciting for all film fans as there are some stonking movies coming our way - this could be one of the best blockbuster summers of all time.

So here at FemaleFirst we are going to take a look at some of the movies that you should be looking out for.

The Dark Knight Rises - There is only one summer 2012 movie on everyone’s lips and that is The Dark Knight Rises; which sees Christopher Nolan return to the Batman franchise.

This movie is set to complete the trilogy for the filmmaker as he is set to bow out after this movie - which is such a shame.

Christian Bale is back as Bruce Wayne, his final film in the franchise, and he faces a new kind of enemy… Bane - who is played by the terrific Tom Hardy.

Many believed that The Dark Knight could never be bettered but Nolan could just well do it with this movie and it looks set to be one of the biggest grossing films of the year!

Snow White and the Huntsman - Twilight may be coming to a close this year but it is Kristen Stewart’s new project that has me all excited.

Yes Snow White and the Huntsman is a new take on the tale on Snow White Stewart taking on the titular character.

She is joined on the cast list by Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth while Rupert Sanders is in the director’s chair.

The Avengers - But next summer really is going to belong to the superhero movie and the Avengers is set to be one of the biggest.

Joss Whedon has brought together all the major players in the Marvel universe - Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) in one movie.

It’s going to be great to see all this big personalities do battle with each other as well as with the bad guy - which is set to be Tom Hiddleston as he reprises the role of Loki.

Whedon is just the kind of director to bring all these characters and storylines together and turn into one hug must see movie - this is another that I cannot wait for!

The Amazing Spider Man - Goodbye Tobey Maguire and hello Andrew Garfield as the Brit actor takes over the role of Peter Parker in the reboot of the popular Spider Man franchise.

2007 was the list time that a Spider Man movie graced the big screen but this time around we are going back to Parker’s teenage years as he battle not only all that teen angst but super-powers as well.

He is joined on the cast list by Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans while the fabulously named Marc Webb is in the director’s chair.

Garfield looks set to see his star rocket with this role as he builds on great performances in The Social Network and Never Let Me Go in the last year.

Prometheus - Prometheus is one of the most intriguing movies that is set for release next summer as it sees Ridley Scott returns to sci-fi.

Noomi Rapace leads an all star cast and she is joined by Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba and Charlize Theron in what looks set to be the must see sci-fi movie of the year.

A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Brave - No summer would be complete without a Pixar movie for us to enjoy and 2012 looks set to be no different with Brave on the way.

Promo for this movie started this summer and it one of the animation movies of next year that I can’t wait for - I really am a big Pixar fan.

We have had two summers of sequels with Cars 2 and Toy Story 3 but the animation giants are back with an original story.

Kelly Macdonald leads the voice cast as Princess Merida who brings about a curse to her kingdom after going against a custom.

Men In Black III - We haven’t seen Will Smith on the big screen since the very emotional Seven Pounds but this summer he is back as Agent J in Men In Black III.

Yes MIB is back for a third instalment of the hit franchise as Smith teams up with Tommy Lee Jones once again.

This time around there is a bit of time travel and Agent K like you have never seen him before - while Emma Thompson and Josh Brolin are just two of new names on the cast list.

Other movies to watch out for this summer include James The Giant Killer, The Expendables 2, The Dictator and The Bourne Legacy.
