Bullet To The Head

Bullet To The Head

We are almost half way through our search for the Worst Movies of 2013, and today we pause at number six and Bullet To The Head.

Now I have a bit of a soft spot for Sylvester Stallone, but this latest action flick of his really does leave quite a lot to be desired.

There's no doubt that he is an action actor who can still show the younger generation a thing or two, but he really needs to be doing that in movie that is a lot better than this one.

Based on a graphic novel, Bullet to the Head tells the story of a New Orleans hitman (Stallone) and a DC cop (Sung Kang) who form an alliance to bring down the killers of their respective partners.

The main problem with Bullet To The Head is that it is badly written. It is packed with clichés, poor dialogue, and characters that are paper-thin.

I imagine the hope was that Stallone would be able to sell or cover up this bad writing, but even he is not a miracle worker.

In the film's defence, there are some solid action scenes: particularly as Stallone and Jason Momoa go head to head at the end of the film. Sadly, they are not enough to save this film or hold your interest.

What is a shame is that Stallone is playing a rather interesting antihero figure, and it would have been great to see some real meat on the bones of this character.

However, Stallone is never given anything really juicy to play with - this is a real shame, as this could have been an interesting character/role for the actor.

The ninety-minute story is rather dull and unexciting and gives us nothing that we haven't already seen in the millions of action movies that have come before it. I just hope none of you actually paid to watch this movie.
