We have already been treated to some great book adaptations so far in 2015, and there is another on the horizon in the form of Far From The Madding Crowd.

Far From The Madding Crowd

Far From The Madding Crowd

Far From The Madding Crowd sees Thomas Vinterberg return to the director's chair as he puts his own stamp on this well-loved novel by Thomas Hardy.

We are huge fans of Carey Mulligan here at FemaleFirst and the movie sees her take on the role of heroine Bathsheba Everdene. We haven't see Mulligan on the big screen since Inside Llewyn Davis at the beginning of 2014 and this will be the first time that she has teamed up with Vinterberg.

Far From The Madding Crowd is the first to two big movie roles for Mulligan this year - the other being Suffragette in the autumn - and I can't wait to see her explore this strong, independent, and free spirted woman.

Two great new clips from the film have been released and we have them for you to take a look at:

While Mulligan may lead the cast and grabbed all the headlines at the film's premiere this week, there is a lot of great talent on the cast list as Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Sheen, Tom Sturridge, and Juno Temple star alongside her.

Far From The Madding Crowd is the story of independent, beautiful, and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Mulligan), who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching wilfulness; Frank Troy (Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood (Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor.

This timeless story of Bathsheba's choices and passions explores the nature of relationships and love - as well as the human ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance.

Far From The Madding Crowd is one of the May movies that I cannot wait to see and Bathsheba Everdene looks set to be another terrific character/role for Mulligan.

Far From The Madding Crowd is released May 1st.
