To celebrate the release of Horrible Bosses 2 in cinemas November 28th, we thought we'd take a look at some of the best father and son duos in film.

The Pursuit of Happyness

The Pursuit of Happyness

Inspired by our new favourite investing father and son duo, Burt and Rex Hanson, these pairs capture some of the best father/son moments on screen. They capture some of the sweeter family moments on screen, while others just show how awesome fathers and sons are to each other; still others are just epic relationships.

Burt and Rex have a great relationship in Horrible Bosses 2, how else could our favourite trio use Rex in their perfect 'kidnaping' plan to get their money back. This father/son duo even rivals the relationship of these fictional fathers and sons.

1. Christopher Gardner Sr. and Chris Jr.: The Pursuit of Happyness

Portrayed by real life father and son, Will and Jaden Smith, these two know how to keep it together and make the most out of their horrid situation.

No matter what Christopher does whatever he needs to protect his son from the harsh realities of being homeless and Chris Jr.

Always brings a smile to his father's face. Together they manage to stay positive, and keep each other strong until they make it to the other side.

2. Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker: Star Wars

There is no way around it. 'Luke I am your father' is probably one of the most beloved movie quotes around. This father and son duo is together forever, at least in fighting each other.

The two are real rivals but in the end, they are one of the most recognisable father/son duos in film, even if they are not on the same side.

3. Antonio Ricci and Bruno Ricci: Bicycle Thieves

This classic duo is one of the first great father/son pairing in film. After having his bike stolen, Antonio goes looking for the thief in hopes of reclaiming his prized possession, and his son, Bruno, joins him through each agonising moment while they strive to reclaim the stolen property.

These two feed off of each other, showing the raw emotion that is a father/son relationship and how well fathers and sons work together.

4. George McFly and Marty McFly: Back to the Future

Who knew a father and his son could be best friends when they are the same age. Well of course this happens in this classic film about time travel gone awry.

These two become best friends when Marty needs to convince his father to ask his mother out to George's high school dance so that Marty can be born in the future.

Sounds a bit confusing, but in the end, the two are a great team that not only makes sure George gets his girl, but saves the future from disaster.

5. Edward Bloom and Will Bloom: Big Fish

This duo starts out on the rocks, with Will being unimpressed by the fantastic yarns that his father spins, until he listens carefully as his father is on his death-bed.

As Will begins to learn more about his father's past, the two only become closer. Big Fish is a story about fathers, and how important they are to their sons.

6. Dr. Evil and Mini Me: Austin Powers

This duo love extracting evil upon the world. Always in search for 1 *million* dollars, they are willing to concoct any plan possible to make it happen.

Mini Me may just be a clone, but he is the true son of Dr. Evil. He plots and schemes, and does his best to help his father create the best evil schemes possible, in hopes of finally defeating Austin Powers and collecting all that money.

7. Pat Solitano Sr. and Pat Solitano Jr.: Silver Linings Playbook

This father and son duo bond over football, gambling and the Philadelphia Eagles. Portrayed by Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, this pair plays off of each other to show this awesome relationship.

To Pat Sr., Pat Jr. is the ultimate good luck charm, and the two always work together to produce the best outcome possible, usually it means winning a bet. In the end, Pat Sr. knows his son really well and encourages him to pursue the person he loves.

8. Marlin and Nemo: Finding Nemo

What won't a father do for his son? This movie shows how far a father will go to make sure his son is safe, especially if he has been kidnapped.

Marlin travels across the ocean to reach a dentist's office in his efforts to find his son and get him to safety.

Poor little Nemo is stuck in a strange place, but he has faith that his father will come to his rescue. When Marlin finds Nemo they have a touching reunion only a father and son could have.

9. Vito Corleone and Michael Corleone: The Godfather

Vito is the leader of the mafia, Michael is a soldier who just returned from war and doesn't want to waste his college education on the 'family business'.

Over time the two work closely together to become one of the best father/son duos in film. Vito and Michael together make the dirty decisions a mob boss needs to make, and by the end of the film, Michael is prepared to step up and succeed his father, when his time comes.

10. Professor Henry Jones and Indiana Jones: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Both adventurer archaeologists, Indy follows in the footsteps of his dad, Henry, and will do whatever it takes to save him, especially if it involves finding the beloved Holy Grail.

The two work so well with each other, using their brilliant minds to follow the clues to the Grail, even helping each other get out of more than a few sticky situations. But like all fathers and sons, Henry is very good at embarrassing Indy in front of his friends.
