Aaron Sorkin has revealed his joy at picking up a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar nomination for his work on The Social Network.

Sorkin has already picked up a Golden Globe for his work as The Social Network has dominated the awards season over recent weeks.

The movie, which follows the birth of Facebook, picked up eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for David Fincher.

Speaking on Good Morning America Sorkin said: "It's a great way to start the morning. I'm so happy for everyone involved. My recommendation for anyone who wants an Oscar nomination: Work with [director] David Fincher."

"I love the way audiences responded to this movie. They came out and saw it and they loved it. It's a special cherry on top."

The Social Network was the first script for Sorkin since Charlie Wilson's War back in 2007 but he has been working on MOney ball and Follies.

The Oscar winners will be announced on the 27th February.
