Madonna hopes that people with leave watching W.E. with a new understanding of Wallis Simpson and her relationship with King Edward VIII.
The singer steps behind the camera for her latest project as she directs for only this second time.
The movie mixes the story of Edward and Wallis with a modern day romance story.
Madonna was in London earlier this week for the premiere of the movie and she revealed that she tried to put everything that inspires her into the film.
Madonna also penned the screenplay for the W.E. in a directing effort that comes three years after Filth and Wisdom.
She has brought together a young cast that includes Abbie Cornish, Andrea Riseborough and James D’Arcy.
W.E. is released 20th January
