Amy Adams has admitted that she loves the strength and independence of Lois Lane.
The Oscar nominated actress has joined the all star cast as Lane as Superman is set to return to the big screen in 2013.
Zack Snyder is in the director's chair for the movie while Brit actor Henry Cavill has taken over the role of Clarke Kent.
Speaking to Total Film Adams said: "What I love about (her) is that she’s successful and independent.
"She was smart and feminine and that’s something that I am going to teach my daughter . You don’t have to be a man to be powerful. You can be a powerful woman."
Along with Adams and Cavill other stars on the cast list include Diane Keaton, Kevin Costner, Laurence Fishburne and Michael Shannon.
We have seen Adams just once this year as she starred in the critically acclaimed The Fighter at the beginning of 2011.
She has already completed work on On The Road as well as The Muppets.
Man of Steel is due for a June 2013 release.
