Andrea Arnold will reportedly helm the big screen version of Wuthering Heights.

The Emily Bronte has been a project that has been in the pipeline for some time but has been plagued with problems.

Natalie Portman, Gemma Arterton and Ed Westwick have all signed onto the project only to leave it behind.

Robert Bernstein, the movie's producer, told the Guardian: "Andrea has previously said that the only book she would ever direct would be Wuthering Heights, because of the passionate, impossible love story at its centre and its elements of class divide.

"It's a very lucky coincidence for us that we've found each other."

But Andrea Arnold has had a very successful 2009 with her movie Fish Tank, a film that shot it's teenage leading lady Katie Jarvis to stardom.

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year where she won the Jury Prize.
