Ben Barnes

Ben Barnes

Ben Barnes was unable to hang around at the royal premiere of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader as he had to be on stage.

The British actor is reprising his role as Caspian in the third movie in the franchise but he had to cut his stay at the premiere short as he is currently starring in the Birdsong, a stage adaptation of Sebastian Faulks' novel.

Speaking to MSN movies the actor said: We didn't know that it would be a royal premiere so I sort of arranged to come to this and then nip off and nip back before anyone missed me, and then the Queen decided to come so I'm devastated about that, but there will be a theatre-full of people who would be disappointed if I didn't go."

And while Voyage of the Dawn Treader looks set to be one of the big movies of the holiday season Barnes admits that he enjoying his run in the theatre.

"It's brilliant. I'm having a wonderful time. It's an absolutely beautiful story and to work with Trevor Nunn and Sebastian Faulks and everyone, the cast are great and it's just a great part. I'm very lucky."

Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the first movie from the actor since Dorian Gray but he is set to star in Killing Bono.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is released 9th December.
