Ben Barnes

Ben Barnes has reportedly been cast in a new re-working of Shakespeare's play Hamlet called Ophelia.

Barnes, who shot to fame as Prince Caspian in last summer's Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, will take on the role of Danish prince Hamlet in the film that tells the story from the perspective of Ophelia.

Entertainment Weekly also reported that Juno Temple has been cast in the lead role as the young girl who's desire for Hamlet, and his rejection of her, sends her mad.

Last year's movie Prince Caspian proved to be the breakthrough role for the British actor, a role that he will reprise later this year in Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

It was revealed yesterday that the movie, which was almost shelved after Disney pulled out of it's partnership with Walden Media, is expected to be released in the winter of 2010.

He finished off last year with the well received adaptation of Noel Coward's play Easy Virtue with Jessica Biel and Colin Firth.

He will reunite with Firth later this year for Dorian Gray in which Barnes plays the title character. The actor was also linked with a possible role in the sequel to Twilight, New Moon.

Production on Ophelia starts this summer.
