Benedict Cumberbatch has joined The Hobbit.
The news was accidentally revealed by Cumberbatch's Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman at the Bafta Awards at the weekend.
Freeman is set to lead the cast as Bilbo Baggins in the Peter Jackson directed movie but is taking time away from the film to complete work on a second series of Sherlock.
Speaking backstage Freeman later said: "I knew I was a big mouth, I didn't know how much of a big mouth, and I've ruined everything.
"And now I might not have a job to go back to!"
Despite the slip there are no details as to which part the Sherlock actor will take on.
Filming has already got underway in New Zealand with Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, Aidan Turner and Stephen Fry all on the cast list.
