The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 has stormed to the top of the UK box office taking £13.9 million.

Breaking Dawn - Part 1 is the first instalment of the final chapter of the saga, part 2 set to hit the big screen this time next year.

And the £13.9 million is the biggest all time opening for an American film in the UK - is also surpassed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 as the biggest non-3D opening Friday movie.

The movie has so far taken $291 million at the global box office and looks set to go on and be one of the biggest movies of 2011.

Arthur Christmas stayed at two this week as it took a further £2.3 million - there was also no move for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, which stayed at three.

Last week's number one Immortals was one of the biggest fallers this week as it dropped three places to number four.

Justin Tmberlake's new film In Time dropped just a single place to round off the top five.

Tower Heist dropped out of the top five when it fell a single place to six while Justice was the second and final new entry inside the top ten this week at number seven.

Johnny English reborn was another faller as it was down one at seven. The Rum Diary, like Immortals, fell three places to nine while there was no more for The Ides of March at ten.
