Carey Mulligan has agreed to play the lead in the big screen remake of My Fair Lady, according to the movie's writer Emma Thompson.
The An Education star dismissed speculation earlier this month (Mar10) she was set to take the part of Eliza Doolittle, which was made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the 1964 musical.
She told WENN, "I would love to, but I'm not signed on to that."
But Thompson, who has penned the script for the remake, is adamant Mulligan has landed the role - and they are still looking for the male lead, Henry Higgins.
She tells Britain's The Andrew Marr Show, "We have, I think, Carey Mulligan is going to play our Eliza. As yet we don't know about Higgins. It's very difficult to cast."
Carey Mulligan has shot to fame since her Oscar nominated turn in An Education, she lost out on the night to Sandra Bullock.
The actress has already filmed Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and will team up with Keira Knightley for Never Let me Go.
