Catherine Hardwicke Not Fired From Twilight Franchise

Catherine Hardwicke has laughed off reports that she was fired from the Twilight Saga franchise.

Hardwicke helmed the first movie Twilight back in 2008 but says that she doesn't regret her decision to leave the franchise behind.

Speaking to Newsweek the filmmaker revealed: "I couldn't even be fired, that's what's so funny.

"In my contract, I had the first right of refusal," she said.

"I do not regret it at all, thank the Lord... The truth is I liked the first book the best."

And she is back with her latest movie next month with Red Riding Hood, her take on the popular tale.

The movie brings together an great cast of Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Julie Christie and Billy Burke.

Red Riding Hood is released 15tyh April.
