Channing Tatum & Jamie Bell

Channing Tatum & Jamie Bell

Stars of the new Roman epic The Eagle came marching into London's Leicester Square to promote the film, and Filmclub - the education charity and experts in films for young people - were there to chat to it's leading men Channing Tatum (The Dilemma, Dear John, Step Up 2) and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Jumper, Defiance).

The charity sent along Young Ambassador AJ to talk to the Hollywood heartthrobs and the creative team including director Kevin MacDonald (The Last King of Scotland, Touching The Void), and find out about making the film, which was set and shot in the Scottish Highlands.

AJ said of her experience; "It's been a really great experience.  Coming down here to the red-carpet was quite a buzz.

It's been great to come to a premiere - not something most young people get to do.  It was really exciting being a junior reporter but a bit nerve-wracking! It's weird being so close to all the stars that you see on TV and in film, you don't imagine meeting them in your life.  It's quite cool!"

The Eagle is a Roman epic adventure, based on the classic novel "The Eagle Of The Ninth" by Rosemary Sutcliff, set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain.

The story follows young centurion Marcus Aquila who arrives in Britain from Rome to solve the mystery of the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth.

Accompanied only by his British slave Esca, Marcus sets out to retrieve the lost legion's golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth. The Eagle is released in UK cinemas on 23rd March 2011.
