Chris Pine is to step into Ben Affleck and Harrison Ford's shoes after signing up to play beloved movie character Jack Ryan in a new movie.
Pine becomes the fourth actor to portray the Tom Clancy character on the big screen behind Ford, Affleck and Alec Baldwin, who played Ryan in 1990's The Hunt For Red October.
Ford played Ryan in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, while Affleck took over the role in 2002's The Sum of All Fears.
Although the story will be based on the popular Tom Clancy novels the film with have an original script by Hossein Amini.
2009 has been a great year for the young actor making a major breakthrough in the summer with Star Trek.
He took on the role of James T Kirk in a revamp of the popular sci-fi series that was a critical and commercial hit at the box office.
It's yet unknown whether Pine will film the latest Jack Ryan adventure before of after working in the Star trek sequel.
He returns to the big screen later this year with horror thriller Carriers.
