Clash of the Titans

Clash of the Titans has given Sam Worthington his second consecutive number one movie as it claimed the top spot in America.

The remake of the 1981 classic shot straight to the top of the box office, grossing over $61 million in it's opening weekend.

directed by Louis Leterrier the movie boasts an all star cast of Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes.

The mortal son of the god Zeus embarks on a perilous journey to stop the underworld and its minions from spreading their evil to Earth as well as the heavens.

Tyler Perry's latest movie Why Did Get Married, which normally would have grabbed the top spot with a $30 million gross had to settle for second.

Last week's number one How To Train Your Dragon opened at three and, despite poor reviews The Last Song was another new entry at four.

There was a three place drop for Alice In Wonderland as the Tim Burton movie rounded off the top five.

John Cusack's latest movie Hot Tub Time Machine fell out of the top five with a three place drop to six.

There was also a three place drop for The Bounty Hunter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, ending the week at seven and eight.
