Colin Firth has become the latest star to be immortalised in wax.

The Oscar winner's statue, dressed in a black tuxedo and bow tie, has been put on display at London's Madame Tussauds museum.

Firth's waxwork was the eighth and final new celebrity statue to be unveiled this year (11), and has been placed next to Kate Winslet's double and those of David and Victoria Beckham.

A spokeswoman for the attraction says, "Colin is one of the hottest leading men of our time, an Oscar winner and a true British gent."

Firth picked up that Oscar at the beginning of 2011 for his stunning performance as King George VI in The King's Speech - which also went on to win Best Picture.

He followed this up at the end of the summer with Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy - which boasted an all star cast of Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy and Mark Strong.

Firth will be back on the big screen in 2012 with a remake of Gambit.
