Danny McBride in Your Highness

Danny McBride believes that a good movie transports you somewhere else.

The actor is back on the big screen this week as he teams up with James Franco and Oscar winner Natalie Portman for adventure comedy Your Highness.

The movie reunites both McBride and Franco with their Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green.

Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "I think that's what any good movie's supposed to do, transport you somewhere else, let you forget about what's going on in your life and take you somewhere fantastical.

And the actor reveals that action movies of the eighties such as Conan the Barbarian were a big influence on the movie.

"Everything from the approach to the visual effects, to having puppets in the movie, to having a stop-motion bird.

"We took all these elements of the genre that always stuck in our minds as kids and tried to just piece it together in something that was a nice nod to those films," he said.

Your Highness is the first movie for McBride since Due Date last year having concentrated on TV with Eastbound & Down.

Your Highness is out now.
