Dustin Milligan failed to land the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight because he didn't have a British accent.
The actor is currently best known for his role as Ethan Ward in teen American drama 90210 but auditioned for the role that finally went to Robert Pattinson.
In an interview with Access Hollywood he said: "The first [audition] I did was with [director] Catherine Hardwicke and I went in there and did my best Edward Cullen," he explained.
"Unfortunately I didn't have a British accent. So I didn't get the job!"
Twilight was one of the biggest movies of 2008 and the sequel New Moon released in November. Production on the third film Eclipse began earlier this month.
However Milligan will be seen on the big screen later this year as he teams up with Jason Bateman, Ben Affleck and Mila Kunis for Extract.
